Aphrodite: Fefe Dobson

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS GIRL!!! Fefe Dobson is the classic definition of the modern day music artist. Signed to a major label deal with Island Def Jam at the tail end of the ‘golden years’ in 2003, the then 15 year old Scarborough, Ontario native was no where near reaching her stride. Still, she released her self-titled debut CD to much fanfare, selling over 304k stateside and going Platinum in Canada. Singles “Bye Bye Boyfriend” and “Take Me Away” helped her secure the rough and tumble position that the major label was jockeying for her to own. It made her a mainstream staple. She also filled her passport with stamps from around the world opening for Justin Timberlake on his European tour. Back home in Canada, Fefe’s debut album earned her two Juno and three MuchMusic Video Award nominations as well as some hardware when she collected ‘Best New Solo Artist’ at the Canadian Radio Music Awards in 2004. Fefe took up the torch for some great causes including the Make Poverty History and the Got Milk? campaigns.Fefe came off the road after two years of devoted touring and growing up and started to work on her 2006 sophomore follow up, Sunday Love. With a fistful of influences, both lyrically and musically, that includes Guns N Roses, The Bee Gees, Bob Marley and Depeche Mode, Fefe’s music, you want to stopthis girl has to say...so Listen up.
